Suburban Travel Team News
Did you know that Suburban has select / travel teams for both boys and girls? Nearly 150 boys and girls represented Suburban through the select program, with many having initiated their playing careers in the Suburban in-house leagues. Suburban teams are very competitive in some of the top leagues in the Omaha area. Many Suburban players have gone on to play at local area high schools.
Program Goals:
- Improvement in game fundamentals
- Fair playing time for all players with an opportunity to learn multiple positions
- Manageable increase in games vs. in-house
- Emphasis on the selection of players with a history in the Suburban organization
Important Information:
- Tryouts July /Â August for following year
- Season runs from early April to early July.
- Additional practice time may be required, with some teams beginning optional practices as early as January or February.
- Costs for the additional games and equipment will be borne by the players.
2011 Girls Travel Program Update
Nine girls travel teams competed in 2009 throughout the Midwest. Highlights included incoming Fast Pitch Director, Rob Carstens’ 15U Team finishing in 4th place out of a field of 48 at the “USSSA 16B World Series” in Shawnee, KS.
